Ganpati is seen in mosques in the villages of this state!
The aurangzeb controversy that started from the politics of maharashtra has deepened the gap between Hindus and Muslims. Many Hindu organizations are demanding the removal of the tomb of the most cruel Mughal emperor aurangzeb from Khuldabad and many Muslim organizations have opposed it. However, the message of Hindu-Muslim brotherhood is being given in some villages of maharashtra for many decades.
A unique tradition of Hindu-Muslim harmony is going on in the villages of Kolhapur and Sangli in Maharashtra. Ganpati idols have been installed in the mosques of the villages here for the last 40 years and Hindus and Muslims worship together. You may find this thing surprising, but this unique example has been going on for many decades.
The tradition started in 1961
Gotkhindi is a village in Valva tehsil of Sangli district of Maharashtra. In this village, the Ganpati idol is being installed in the mosque since 1961. According to reports, in 1961, some youths of the village decided to install the Ganesh idol at the crossroads during the Ganpati festival. This event was organized on a very small scale and the Ganpati idol was kept under the open sky. It is said that one night it rained heavily. During this time, a Muslim man Nizam Pathan saw the Ganesh idol getting wet in the rain and informed the people of Ganesh Mandal about it. After this, Nizam Pathan and other villagers together decided to keep the Ganesh idol in a nearby mosque to protect it from getting wet. After this, the idol remained in the mosque for the rest of the days of Ganesh Utsav and people also worshipped here.
When a Muslim became the president of Ganesh Mandal
After the rare festival of Ganesh Utsav in 1961, this tradition was not repeated till 1986. However, in the same year, some youths decided to repeat this historical heritage of their village again. In the same year, the youth together formed a committee named Ganesh Mandal. A Muslim youth Ilahi Pathan was made the president of this committee. Since then, every year Ganesh Utsav is celebrated in the mosque in this village. Seeing this unique tradition, Muslims in the surrounding villages started inviting Hindus to place the Ganesh idol inside the mosque.
