Relationship between dhananjay and the woman is like marriag...

Nationalist congress Party (NCP) leader and former maharashtra minister dhananjay Munde has got a setback from a mumbai court. The court said that his relationship with the woman Karuna Munde, who claims to be his first wife, is prima facie of the 'nature of marriage'. The woman is entitled to relief under the Domestic Violence Act. Additional Sessions Judge Sheikh Akbar Sheikh Jafar, in an order given on Saturday, dismissed Munde's appeal in which he had challenged a magistrate's order to give interim maintenance to a woman named Karuna Munde.

What is dhananjay Munde's claim?

The ncp leader had claimed in his appeal that he was never married to Karuna Munde. The court said that whether she is a legally married wife or not should be decided by the appropriate forum.

According to the detailed order of the court which was made available on Wednesday, the relationship between the woman and Munde is like marriage as the woman has given birth to two children and it is not possible without living in a shared residence. The court said that keeping in mind the lifestyle of a famous leader, it is appropriate for the magistrate to order interim maintenance to Karuna Munde.

'Give Rs 1,25,000 per month to the woman'

The court said that Karuna and her children should also get the same lifestyle that the leader enjoys. On february 4, the Bandra Magistrate court partially accepted Karuna's petition and ordered the ncp mla to give Rs 1,25,000 per month to the woman and Rs 75,000 to their daughter.

The woman had filed a domestic violence case against dhananjay Munde in the year 2020 and the main petition is yet to be decided. The former minister had filed an appeal in the sessions court against the interim order. Dismissing the appeal, the court said that it is established law that "a woman who has been subjected to domestic violence and who has been in a live-in relationship similar to marriage, which is also recognised by society, is entitled to relief under the Domestic Violence Act."
