Airport do’s and don’ts before your flight!
Before heading to the airport, there are a few key do’s that can make your travel experience much smoother. First, do check in online if possible—this saves time and helps you avoid long lines. Do arrive early, ideally two to three hours before your flight, especially for international travel. This gives you a buffer for unexpected delays like traffic, long security lines, or gate changes. Lastly, do keep all essential documents—like your passport, boarding pass, and any travel confirmations—easily accessible.
Packing smart is another important part of the process. Do follow TSA guidelines for liquids (3.4 oz or 100ml max per container, all in a quart-sized clear bag), and do wear comfortable clothes and easy-to-remove shoes for security checks. Consider bringing a reusable water bottle to fill after security, snacks, and chargers for your devices. A little prep goes a long way in avoiding stress and keeping you comfortable before and during your flight.
As for the don’ts, don’t pack prohibited items in your carry-on—check airline or TSA websites if you're unsure. Don’t wait until the last minute to find your gate or grab food, especially if the airport is busy. Also, don’t forget to check your flight status before leaving home—delays, gate changes, or cancellations can happen, and it's better to know in advance than be caught off guard.
Finally, don’t be rude or impatient with airport staff or fellow travelers—everyone is trying to get somewhere, and a little patience goes a long way. If issues arise, stay calm and ask for help politely. A positive, prepared attitude can make all the difference in starting your trip on the right foot, even before you board the plane.
