Superstition has once again shamed humanity in Hurmentha village of Nauhatta police station area of Rohtas. After the death of an eight-year-old child due to illness, angry family members accused an elderly woman of the village of witchcraft and beat her to death. The deceased woman has been identified as 60-year-old Kismatiya Devi. The incident took place on thursday night (April 10, 2025).

Upendra Oraon, a resident of Hurmentha village, had an 8-year-old son Ranjan who was ill for the past few days. Despite treatment, his health did not improve. On thursday, when the family was taking him to the hospital after his health suddenly deteriorated, the child died on the way. The matter escalated after this.

The woman was beaten till she died

After Ranjan's death, the family and villagers became angry. They accused the village's elderly woman Kismatiya Devi of being a witch and attacked her house. It is alleged that the deceased child's mother Pramila Devi attacked first and many people from the village jumped on her immediately. The woman was beaten with sticks and bricks. After this, she was attacked with sharp weapons. It is also being said that she was also beaten with an axe. people beat her until she died.

police arrested one accused

As soon as the information about the incident was received, the police reached the spot. On the instructions of Rohtas SP roshan Kumar, a raid was conducted under the leadership of Dehri SDPO-2 Bandana Mishra. One accused has been arrested. The SP said that both the bodies were sent to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. After this, they were handed over to the family. The police is conducting raids to arrest the remaining accused.
