
rasam / Charu is a most basic and traditional dish of south indian. rasam is usually consumed along with rice or right after the meal. Ingredients which are used in rasam act as a powerhouse of multi-vitamins and minerals .
Including rasam / charu in our daily diet has many health benefits.

6,it gives you soothing effect from flu and cough
7,it keeps concer away.
Here is the recipe of south-Indian traditional rasam
Ingredients:
Toor dal-1/2cup(cooked and mashed)
onion - 1 medium(roughly chopped)
Green chillies- 3
tamarind - lemon sized(soak in a water and squeeze 1/2 cup juice)
Jeera - 2-3 tbsp
Black peppercorns- 4-5 tbsp
garlic cloves - 1/4th cup
coriander seeds - 1/2 tbsp
Turmeric- 1tsp
salt - as per taste
Seasoning:
TIL oil - 2tbsps
Desi ghee - 1tsp
red dried chillies - 4no’s
curry leaves - a hand ful
Mustard seeds - 1tsp
Chala dal - 1tsp
Methi seeds - 1/4tsp
Asafoetida- 2pinches
Coriander- a hand ful washed and finely chopped
Masala:
Grind peppercorns,coriander seeds,garlic cloves and jeera roughly and keep it aside.
Process:
1,In a round bottomed pan add mashed toor dal and add 4-5 cups of water to it.
Let it boil for sometime.
2,Now add turmeric,salt,onions and green chillies.
3,After 1 boil add squeezed tamarind juice to it.
4,let it boil for 4-5 mins.
5,Now add masala mix well until well combined.
6,once you feel aromatic smell from rasam adjust the salt.
7, Finally add seasoning(in other pan add oil and ghee along with all the seasoning ingredients once they are well done add the piping hot seasoning in to the rasam).
8, Right after adding the seasoning close the lid and let it be in simmer for 3 min.
9, Now add chopped coriander and switch off the stove.
Tadaaaa!!!
