The extraordinary event happened in Uttar Pradesh's hamirpur district, namely in the Muskara area. The woman's daughter had reportedly been the target of the man's harassment for a number of days. After the girl told her mother, the mother made the decision to act independently.
Caught on Camera, Video Goes Viral
The woman is seen yelling at the young man with her slippers in the now-widely shared video on social media. On camera, the man—later identified as Shiv Kumar Sahu—begs the woman to stop, but she doesn't listen and keeps striking him.
She struck him about fifteen times in nine seconds, and by the time the film ended, she had hit him twenty-three times. While several people captured the incident on their phones, shocked bystanders can be heard responding in the background. Witnesses report that the woman called out the man for his alleged acts during the confrontation, which took place in broad daylight and directly on a public road, gathering a throng.
"He Was Harassing Her for Days," Say Reports
Locals and early reports claimed that the man had been harassing the girl for several days. She finally told her mother what was going on because she could take it no more. The mother was furious and chose to speak with the man face-to-face. According to reports, she and a few other family members found him and publicly challenged him. Right in front of the assembled throng, that's when the beating happened.
Police Respond After Video Circulates
Since the incident's video went viral, the police have finally intervened. Shiv Kumar Sahu, a Banda district inhabitant, has been recognized as the young person in the video. He has been arrested so that he can be questioned.
The police did, however, confirm that the girl and her family have not yet made an official complaint. Additional legal action cannot be done until a formal report is submitted. "The Muskara police station recognized the young person as Shiv Kumar Sahu, a Banda resident, based on the social media footage that went viral. The victim and their family have not yet provided the Muskara police station with any information. After receiving a complaint from the family, the police said in a statement, "The youth is being questioned and further legal action will be taken."
No FIR Yet, But Investigation Underway
Police said they have started questioning the accused and are taking the situation seriously. Despite having located and arrested the man, they said, authorities are still awaiting the girl or her family to come forward and formally report the incident. The case stays in legal limbo in the absence of a complaint. But the video's viral status and the public outcry it has generated might put more pressure on the government to take immediate action.
