It is considered auspicious to tie Kalawa in the hands.  However, is there a time limit on how long you can wear it?  What impact does wearing it for an extended period of time have on the wearer?

Wearing Kalawa or Raksha Sutra in one's hands is regarded as particularly significant in Sanatan Dharma.  Pandit ji ties this Raksha Sutra on the hands of everyone in attendance following Puja or Havan at home.  When this thread is worn on the wrist, it distributes positive energy and keeps the wearer confident.

A lot of individuals hold Kalawa in their hands for extended periods of time.  Is it appropriate to do this?  Does binding Kalawa in hands for an extended period of time have any unfavorable consequences?  We will go into great detail about this today.

Why Kalawa is considered special?
Let's start by learning why Kalawa is worn in hands. Astrologers say that when Kalava is tied on the hand, the Pandit ji chants a number of mantras to summon Lord Vishnu, Shiva, and Brahma. When this is done, the Kalava absorbs the power of all three gods, which causes bad energy to flee the wearer. This Kalava is thought to shield a person from illness, evil spirits, and pessimistic thoughts. But as time goes on, the impact of that Kalava begins to lessen.

How long should Kalava be worn in the hand?
Astrology states that any Kalava should only be worn for 21 days.  The color then fades or its threads begin to break.  The Kalava also begins to become soiled.  As a result, wearing Kalava can be harmful since it begins to have unfavorable effects rather than positive ones.

What should be done with Kalava after removing it?
Religious scholars advise against throwing Kalava about after it has been removed from the hand.  It is also not regarded as auspicious to store it in a shrine or hang it from a tree.  Rather, take it out and bury it in sanitized soil.  It is believed that by using this cure, the bad energy connected to the severed thread is also absorbed into the ground.
