Gaikwad, in a video statement, requested the former lok sabha member from South mumbai to reconsider his decision, saying that his family and the congress family have been together. He said, “It is unfortunate that Deora chose to resign on the day when ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ has started from Manipur. I request him to reconsider his decision. congress has always stood by him." Gaikwad, mla from Dharavi area of mumbai, said, "The congress party and I are very saddened by this step. The AICC in-charge and I tried to explain to Milind Deora that we are a family and we should live together.

Former chief minister and congress Executive Committee member ashok chavan said that Deora wanted to contest from South mumbai lok sabha seat but the maha Vikas Aghadi alliance agreed that only the sitting mp should be given the ticket. Chavan told PTI, “He could have got some other chance. But it is his decision to leave the party.'' Deora, who was recently appointed joint treasurer of the All india congress Committee, had expressed disagreement with the uddhav Thackeray-led shiv sena (UBT) staking claim on the South mumbai lok sabha seat. arvind sawant of undivided shiv sena had defeated Deora in the 2014 and 2019 general elections. He is now with the thackeray group.
