Anointed as the 27th king of Mysore, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar has many responsibilities. But, the most important role that he has to play is to preserve the history of the family and respect their privacy, some of which are not known to many.
1.       The Royal Tutor

Meet Nanjaraja Urs (70), a HIndi professor and a very close relative of the Wadiyar family. He not only taught Hindi to the Royal couple, but was also instrumental in their marriage.

King Srikanta Datta Wodeyar had a fetish for luxurious cars and has 15 of them. Interestingly, he ensured that all of them were numbered by his birth year-1953. His collection has five BMWs; he has bought a BMW 7 series that cost Rs 1.4 crore. He liked taking long drives with his wife.

Srikanta Datta was in love with a hotelier's sister-in-law. However, the royal family was blackmailed by the girl into getting her married with the prince. A source close to tutor Urs intervened and convinced the girl to hand over the letters answer leave Mysore forever. The prince was then married off to Pramoda Devi.

4.      Marriage

There was a hitch in the marriage of Maharaja and Maharani. Pramoda Devi, a Mysorean and a relative of the Royal family was hesitant marrying Srikanta Datta, the prince; although the latter was interested in the alliance.

5.      The legendary curse

According to a legend, Alamelamma, who was the wife of a chieftain of Srirangapatna, had cursed the Mysore kings that they would never bear children. In the early 18th century, Raja Wodeyar is said to have harassed Alamelamma and her husband for jewels that were used to decorate the deity of the famous Adi-Ranga temple in the island fortress of Srirangapatna.
